It is the policy of the Rush University Medical Center Office of Continuing Medical Education to ensure that its CME activities are independent, free of commercial bias and beyond the control of persons or organizations with an economic interest in influencing the content of CME. Everyone who is in a position to control the content of an educational activity must disclose all relevant financial relationships with any commercial interest (including but not limited to pharmaceutical companies, biomedical device manufacturers, or other corporations whose products or services are related to the subject matter of the presentation topic) within the preceding 12 months.

If there are relationships that create a conflict of interest, these must be resolved by the CME Course Director in consultation with the Office of Continuing Medical Education prior to the participation of the faculty member in the development or presentation of course content.

Course Objectives

Following your participation in this educational activity, you should be able to:

1. Identify the typical and atypical presentations of common infectious diseases.
2. Review the clinical presentations, diagnostic criteria, and therapeutic options for uncommon infectious diseases.
3. Evaluate recent therapeutic developments in infectious disease and identify their role in the armamentarium.
4. Identify the clinical presentations of agents of bioterrorism.
5. Review the clinical syndromes of emerging infectious diseases.
6. Improve clinical capabilities by expanding an individual's clinical database.
7. Improve scores of participating physicians preparing for the Infectious Disease certification or recertification exam.

The 2010 Chicago Infectious Disease Board and Recertification Course is a three-day intensive learning session designed to prepare physicians-in-training and practicing physicians for the Infectious Disease Sub-specialty Examination of the American Board of Internal Medicine. The course is also intended for physicians who are interested in an intensive, broad-scope review of Infectious Disease topics. Presented by The Metro Foundation, this comprehensive course offers more than 25 presentations including:

• HIV/AIDS
• STDs
• Fungal Diseases
• Diagnostic Microbiology
• Infection Control and Epidemiology
• GI Syndromes
• Parasitic Diseases
• Endocarditis
• Pediatric ID

The 2010 course provides exam candidates with an understanding of the latest clinical findings and case studies as well as ample Q&A opportunities with leading infectious disease physicians and educators. The course includes two intensive sample examinations to reinforce learning and ensure successful board certification.

Cancellation Policy

Notification of cancellation must be received in writing.  Cancellations received on or by July 30, 2010 are subject to a $100 processing fee. Cancellations received between July 31 and August 13, 2010 will receive a 50% tuition refund. For Cancellations received on or after August 14, 2010, tuition is not refundable.  Substitutions will be accepted only with written authorization from the original registrant.  This cancellation policy is for tuition only. The Metro Foundation is not responsible for nonrefundable, nontransferable airline tickets or hotel accommodations purchased for attendance at this course. 

If The Metro Foundation cancels this event, it is not responsible for any airfare, hotel or any other costs incurred by registrants. The Metro Foundation does not cancel events due to inclement weather.  Speakers and agenda are subject to change without notice.
