It is the policy of the Rush University Medical Center Office of Continuing Medical Education to ensure that its CME activities are independent, free of commercial bias and beyond the control of persons or organizations with an economic interest in influencing the content of CME. Course Objectives
Following your participation in this educational activity, you intend to incorporate the following objectives into your practice of medicine:
1. Utilize appropriate microbiologic diagnostic procedures for the diagnosis of common and uncommon infectious diseases 2. Maintain up-to-date immunization of my patients for all currently recommended adult immunizations 3. Provide my patients traveling to foreign destinations with the United States Public Health Services recommended prophylactic medications and immunizations 4. Initiate antiretroviral therapy in HIV infected patients based upon current recommendations of the Department of Health and Human Services 5. Initiate treatment for suspected sexually transmitted diseases based upon the presenting symptoms and signs 6. Initiate therapy for chronic HBV and HCV infection based upon current recommendations 7. Isolate hospitalized patients suspected of having infection with a microbiologic agent of bioterrorism 8. Treat community and health-care acquired pneumonia with the current IDSA Guidelines recommended antimicrobial agents 9. Prescribe appropriate antimicrobial therapy for patients with suspected sepsis 10. Utilize current recommended guidelines for the treatment of febrile transplant recipients 11. Improve my performance on the Infectious Disease certification/re-certification exam
Target Audience
The 2011 Chicago Infectious Disease Board and Recertification Course is a three-day intensive learning session designed to prepare physicians-in-training and practicing physicians for the Infectious Disease Sub-specialty Examination of the American Board of Internal Medicine. The course is also intended for physicians who are interested in an intensive, broad-scope review of Infectious Disease topics. Presented by The Metro Foundation, this comprehensive course offers more than 25 presentations including:
• HIV/AIDS • STDs • Fungal Diseases • Diagnostic Microbiology • Infection Control and Epidemiology • GI Syndromes • Parasitic Diseases • Endocarditis
The 2011 course provides exam candidates with an understanding of the latest clinical findings and case studies as well as ample Q&A opportunities with leading infectious disease physicians and educators. The course includes two intensive sample examinations to reinforce learning and ensure successful board certification.
Cancellation Policy
Notification of cancellation must be received in writing. Cancellations received on or by July 8, 2011 are subject to a $100 processing fee. Cancellations received between July 9 and August 5, 2011 will receive a 50% tuition refund. For Cancellations received on or after August 6, 2011, tuition is not refundable. Substitutions will be accepted only with written authorization from the original registrant. This cancellation policy is for tuition only. The Metro Foundation is not responsible for nonrefundable, nontransferable airline tickets or hotel accommodations purchased for attendance at this course.
If The Metro Foundation cancels this event, it is not responsible for any airfare, hotel or any other costs incurred by registrants. The Metro Foundation does not cancel events due to inclement weather. Speakers and agenda are subject to change without notice.
